I went to a new oil change facility with my truck and they offer only Mobil oils. The banner shows MC5000 up to the synthetic. I pull in and ask for Mobil Clean 5000 and the guys says it's 10.00 more for it and the Mobil Clean is what they have in bulk. After scratching my head, he agreed to give me the MC5000 for the regular oil change price. But why does Mobil offer a "lesser" grade of conventional oil? Pennzoil and all the others don't offer this "lesser" grade. Is the regular Mobil Clean on par with Pennzoil, Castrol, and Valvoline conventionals? Or is it that the Mobil Clean 5000 is a better oil than those I just mentioned?

IMO Mobil clean is slightly below the oils you mentioned. Pennzoil being the best of the bunch.
No it would be better than Supertec. Probably on par with Valvoline. Everyone seems to have a favorite. In all honesty I have no love for Mobil so I might show that in my opinion.
on paper mobil clean 5000 looks to be better than all the other conventional oils.

I believe Mobil Clean bulk oil = Exxon Superflo
Pennzoil doesn't offer a downgraded oil, however they do have quakerstate which is considered their value oil along with Formula Shell.
It is a little confusing/strange that Mobil sells a downgraded oil for their bulk supply. I'm not sure why they do that. FWIW, i think Superflo is a very decent product.

Anything is better than SuperTech conventional that doesn't even make API SM grade.
I also believe Mobil Clean bulk oil = Exxon Superflo. If you go to the MC 5000 web page, it references containing xxx more detergents than their bulk oil.
