This a decent pressure washer?

I'm looking to get a new pressure washer. I was thinking gas, then read that the pumps get hot unless you are continually using it. So you can't just let the engine idle much. So it looks like I'm looking at an electric since for my use I would be letting it idle quite a bit.

This one looks decent and like it can have the pump replaced, unlike most electric ones. Anyone have this one?

Looks OK, seems a little on the high side for price.

With a gas pressure washer you can always shut it down when you need to take a break. They can idle for a few minutes, but if your taking a lunch break, then its best to shut it down.

I'm sold on Karcher ( though it is the only brand I've ever used). I have a cheapie 1600psi(?) washer that has been good to me for 11+ years. Thing is pretty weak, but I can't complain for a 60 dollar unit.

My use would be using it for a minute or so, then not using it for five minutes, then using it for a minute or so again, and over and over. So I'm probably going to avoid gas.

I had a Karcher and it has a leaky pump after two years and maybe 15 uses. Not getting another one of those.

All if the electric ones I have used are junk IMO. They have a lot of pressure, but not much for GPM, so they don't clean very well. Most are made really cheap too and don't last long. I went to a Simpson gas from Sams Club and it seems to work great. Has a Honda engine.

I don't see any issue with a gas-powered unit.

Specifically, what are you doing?

Mostly I use it for washing the car. I have a foaming gun from autokeek.net. So I would spray the car with regular water, then foam one side of it, then let it sit a little and wash by hand, then rinse, then foam the next part of the car, etc....

So usually there is about 30 seconds of use and 5+ minutes of non-use, then use again.

Do those foaming guns even need a pressure washer…. I always wanted one, but seemed like overkill. That and now I don't find the time to wash,clay,polish,wax, repeat like I used to when I was in my 20s.

For that kind of use, I'd go electric. At most you'll use it all of 2 minutes or so. I've used a few Karcher electric ones that were real nice… If I was going electric, that's what I'd get. However I already have two gas powered ones (one with kerosene heater).

how many electric pressure washers could you get for the price of 1 gas powered washer?

Karcher is ok, but in my experience there are better units out there...

Not really. I have had best luck with Northstar Pressure Washer that has the Honda engine and cat pump. Cat Pumps are the way to go for any pressure washer IMO.
