thinnest 10w-40 semi-synth/high mileage blend?

Hi everyone. I'am looking to switch to 10w-40 motor oil due to high mileage on my vehicle,but the thinnest 10w-40 semi-synth/hm blend.Any opinions? honda civic 00' lx 262k

I don't know the answer, but I'm just wondering, why do you think you have to start using high mileage oil? I know you have a lot of miles, but unless you're having problems with it, I'd continue using whatever you've been using - it obviously worked.

If you want a thin 10w-40, why not just use 10w30? There's a very small difference between the two.

yeah you right, but it's too much debate about motor oil weights. someone said use 10w-40 on that high mileage because it's protected engine better because the parts inside engine are worn due to high mileage, and someone said stay with 10w30 because 10w-40 doesn't lubricate enought internal parts of engine. so who to belive? i'am confused

Well that's not true.
Anyway the lightest 40wt oil is going synthetic.
Pennzoil Ultra 5W-40 or the more readily available Mobil 1 0W-40 would be the way to go.
Having said that I agree with QP, I'd first like to know the reasons for wanting to use a heavy dino 40wt?

If you are not having any issues why not just use 10-30?

My wife and I live just a few miles from Florida and have long hot summers. Both vehicles we have call for 5W20 and same for the last 4 we have owned. No problems.

My 1994 LS400 has more than 290k miles, it has 5W30 most of its life and still using 5W30 now. No 10W40 and no HM is needed, it consumes 1/2 qt every 3-4k miles since new, tried Maxlife few years ago and it didn't much anything in stopping slight oil consumption.

I will try Mobil Super 5000 5W20 in it on the next oil change.

Mobil Super High Mileage and Maxlife are both blends and among the thinnest of the High Mileage oils if you go with a 10w40.

This is my advice, I do not know how long you have had your Honda but your motor got to 262K somehow I would not do too much different that what you have done to get there.
