Think it'll buff out?

Glad to hear no serious injuries .
Looks like some serious damage and frame bending went on back doors look to be misaligned at the top .
Probably a write off ?
For sure.

The LR and RR fenders are slightly creased, the right sliding door is touching the body and the left sliding door read edge gap is double what the factory gap was. I was pushed into the car and front so add front bumper and hood.

Thanks I'll try that once my neck feels better
Wait that's your odyssey? Sorry to see this then, hope the neck injury wasn't too bad. Thought this was something you saw at a parking lot since I saw humor. I imagine it'll be written off so I hope the amount is correct on the check.

Be ready to have a firm strong arm the insurance for more if they short you on the write off check. Some firms handle that and personal injury too so i'd find a good firm that can do both and see if they can get anything more out of the others insurance since injury effects can come later on.

I suspect that thing is totaled.

I know people who had tooth fillings fall out from even lesser impact. Also family member with a torn retina from something similar. Look over all of that. And also after an accident your adrenaline is up and you don't realize how you are hurt.

A family member had a collision. Had a check over by doc. Said all is good. Problems arose weeks down the line. Fortunately she got a good lawyer who had her tested and documented issues. Took three years but got a good settlement.

A friend was in a similar accident and had some serous disc and vertebrae issues. Had to go through a lot of surgery and a cadaver bone to get it back to usable. I don't mean to scare you but the injury can linger so keep records of everything and don't let any pain slide along for more than a few weeks. I wish you a full recovery.

And sorry about the loss of the Honda, those are nice vans.

As Jeff Spicoli once quipped, "

Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman. He's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it!

I am sorry for the loss of your van and hope everyone is OK. Even if the other driver is at fault, you still lose, through administrative costs, loss of use, the value difference between appraisals on “average” vehicles and your beautifully maintained example and hundred other small hits that add up in the end.

Better hope it’s totaled-if it’s repaired, it’ll never be the same again. My xB was a less severe rear end collision victim-wife was stopped at a red light light, got drilled by a company Transit Connect driver that reached for their cellphone & NOT the brake. Best body shop I could find, still rattled & leaked the rest of the time I had it, Hope you’re OK, that Oddy is HAMMERED! Don’t forget diminished value if they’re crazy enough to decide to fix it.

I'm sorry this happened to you @RooflessVW. In recent months I have noticed a considerable increase in aggressive, careless and/or reckless driving. Unfortunately, a complete disregard for the rules of the road and the safety of others sharing said road. My wife was also rear ended recently at a red light (nowhere near the damage your van suffered), with just a simple "sorry", but I suspect distracted driving was the reason. In our area, we need more law enforcement on the road.

Glad you're okay.

That was a big hit. Our oldest son is a police officer and he says it takes only minor rear end impacts for people to suffer a neck or spine injuries. He says it's because people don't know it's coming and are sitting relaxed in their seat, which makes their body whip around like a rag doll.

My wife Sue had actual experience with this. She got rear ended in our virtually brand new Passat (!!!) by a texting driver. She was stopped at a red light and got hit. The damage was relatively minor (but expensive to fix). But even with this minor impact she said the sunroof cover retracted about 2/3s of the way into the roof.

As a motorcycle driver…..these stories give me the WILLIES!

“Go to the doctor”? These wrecks send you to intensive care…..if you’re lucky!

Confirmed totalled. First offer was a crazy lowball, of course.
2nd, 3rd and 4th will be too. The only way to get a fair value is by invoking the appraisal clause in your policy. Hire an independent appraiser. In NC they have to be licensed.

Essentially you hire an IA, the ins co hires an IA at their cost, the 2 appraisers review each others reports, the agreed upon value overrides the insurance company report.

Typically $1000s in increased value.

Any tips on getting a realistic valuation from insurance? I turned down their first offer pretty bluntly and the adjuster said they would contact their "third party valuation team." I'm insured with GEICO.

The person that hit me is insured by USAA and a claim has been filed, though no fault has been admitted as of my last conversation with them. It's pretty cut-and-dry that it is the USAA member's fault; I understand that all the i's have to be crossed and t's dotted.
