Things you grew up eating as a kid - not much seen anymore

Based on my memory as a teen in the late 60's to early 70's Morton's frozen TV dinners were on sale, 4 for a buck often enough. Two dinners for each person at 50 cents a person was a bargain for our family of six. Plus easy peezy to cook in the oven.

As a kid I remember eating Cheez Whiz on toast. I know you can still get it - but its seems far less popular, so I looked it up. Seems the formula has been changed multiple times due to sourcing and regulatory issues. According to wiki :

"Dean Southworth, who was part of the original team that developed Cheez Whiz in the 1950s, described a jar he sampled in 2001 as tasting "like axle grease""

Almost forgot

They were served on a wood wheel with holes similar to a Beef Teriyaki server seen at Polynesian restaurants

ref, post #63 above

I really want to know how chopped up pork and veal formed into a drumstick are supposed to be a poor man's chicken dinner poverty substitute!

Reads more expensive to me!

What happened to poor old Elsie put out to pasture? ... 😲

The art and science of chicken farming has come a long way. Today, they can grow a chicken that produces three times the meat with the same amount feed as pre-1960's chickens, so adjusted for inflation, chicken is cheaper than it used to be and we eat a lot more of it.

Cloudberries, Lingonberries and hundreds of varieties/species of mushrooms (some tasted better than a steak).

For meat, Raindeer

TV dinners out of the Swanson's truck. (Actually only had this a few times that I can remember)
RC Cola and Shasta brand soda
Liver and Onions
Chicken a la King (someone would always bring this to family get together's as a kid)
Jello dishes of all kinds

Edit:
Anybody remember seeing frozen pizzas being cut with scissors? My grandmother would do this to our great amusement.
Also, one thing I forgot was lots of casseroles with Cambell's cream of "whatever" soup as the sauce.
You can buy Shasta Pop at Costco.

Got some menu ideas from this thread!

Things I was never served as a child...

Boiled Eel
What about fried eel intestines or unagi kimo?
Nope and I don't see it happening
Black (blood) pudding
I have tried it. Meh, I can do without.
Disgusting. Vegemite, now we are talking!
Sea Snails
Etc...
I think there were some sea snails in various Japanese dishes I was served. I don't care to know.

I eat two to three pounds of shrooms per week. Love all berries and berry spread, too. - great with fowl and pork.

I remember one. Peas. Mom was big on legumes and there were lots of peas and beans as side dishes. To this day I'm not a fan of either. I will eat beans occasionally but I'm not going out of my way to do so. Peas I avoid altogether, although I don't mind if there are a few in a veggie mix. Pea soup is a no-no. Green sludge - gahk!
