I've seen this situation at numerous companies over the years:

Our Executive Director held a mandatory workshop so we could learn "mindful meditation" to help reduce stress. Oh, by the way, the work you were being diverted from doing still needed to be done, and on the original deadline. No excuses for either missing the deadline and/or not going to the workshop.

I know … And ain't it hard to find a good pocket protector these days …

Per a reference check regarding an employee's potential areas for improvement.

Should work on better attention to scheduling of routine tasks to allow for more continuous workflow, which would allow additional flexibility within the schedule to allow for unexpected requirements to be addressed
