The value of keeping records.

Hello, This is true and posted with one eye on practicality and the other on humor.

I keep records and feel people who don't should be hit with a stick.
The edge of my rear wiper peeled off.
I shrieked at the impending expense and checked my records.

Current blade: 39,000 mile / 35 months. Valuecraft VCB16 (AutoZone house brand)
Previous blade: 75,000 mile / 54 months. Bosch 40716A

For a new car and a house in the south of France can you guess which brand I'm buying today? Kira

Have you looked on rockauto for a $2 clearance beam blade?

I kept my 401(k) and IRA records. When my ex wife flipped out and had an affair, I was able to demonstrate what I had before we married and all of that came off the table during the property settlement.

That was some 6 figure paper. The joke was on her, ha!

The blade has not doing a good job for awhile now. One should not wait until the rubber is falling apart.

Records are good but not sure I can draw much conclusion from how long a rear wiper lasted. They are not used a lot. The front wiper are more consistently used.

Not sure how many cycles each blade has incurred, as most wipers don't have a fixed "sweep per mile", nor "swwep per hour" over the periods that you described.

Also, as wear and alignment of wiper components takes place, I'm unsure that you can even compare what happened over 90 months.

Suggest that you buy two new cars, and drive them next to each other for the next 10 years with the different blades and report back.

I had similar issues and had a lot of 401K statements but for some reason I was missing a few years. I was shocked to find out the investment company managing the 401K only has to maintain the records for the last 5 years. So if you want a 10 year old record you are SOL.

Other Records in life, Absolutely.

After 6 years of private pay, we had to sign my Mother up for Medicaid.
Nursing Homes are $100,000 per year.

Medicaid was ruthless in seeing every document.
And I mean EVERY document.

If people are poor, this would not be a problem.
If your middle class, keep your records.
Buy a Filing Cabinet.

My wiper blades generally last until someone flips them on, with nasty ice on the glass. Been a long time since I actually wore any out.

There are so many variables in how long wipers last that I basically keep them on until one fails, then I replace both. Or, I look for a sale and replace both in the spring when the rains start and after a long winter, which tends to wreck wipers. I keep a few of the old ones around in case I need a replacement quickly before I have time to go to the store. I can't imagine taking advantage of a wiper warranty unless a blade self destructed in the first few months of use.

I just usually get TSC cheap blades, $7-9 and seem to last for a couple years before they get streaky. Once in while they are on sale for half price too.

All my records are in my head and I remember the good brands.

My vehicles won't be worth anything when I'm done with them so I'm not worried about making it potentially worth more.

With a new car, I'd consider keeping all records for potential warranty purposes though.

My records "disappeared" just before my ex split and it cost me WAY too much. Keep your records safe and secret. It took me over 30yrs to recoup my losses just for making a stupid mistake.
