Since not all Valvoline products are readily available locally, I was exploring options to source outside my area.

It turns out that buying from Valvoline direct has some nice perks:
— They use the Shopify platform, which has become my preferred online way to shop by far, and is the easiest way to avoid Amazon
— It lets me avoid Amazon, which I found personally desirable
— The products arrive very well packaged. The jugs or quarts have heat-shrink seals on them that assure zero risk of tampering (you can’t say that about WalMart or Amazon). The quarts I most recently received were neck-sealed with heat shrink plastic, then placed inside a plastic bag, and then that bag was placed inside a box that had a PIG mat in the bottom.
— You get a pretty nice little Valvoline discount this way (even if you don’t subscribe). The net cost as delivered can be quite competitive. For example, I ordered 4 quarts of Advanced 20w50, and the all-in cost with shipping, tax, discounts, etc was $34. $9/quart shipped for quart packages is pretty competitive, since my local auto parts stores all want $10 or more for a quart of any kind of Valvoline full synthetic.

I think I might do this again. We’ll see.

Would have bought several more cases if I knew they were going to bump the price to $175 =_=

I agree but my order took a lengthy, frustrating and circuitious route. Last year someone here posted an alert that Wal-Mart had a deal for Valvoline 0W-20 Advanced syn. I ordered two five quart jugs. I got them but the UPS driver returned them because they leaked and lubed his truck nicely. Wal-Mart sent me one jug replacement. I barked at them and they sent my complaint directly to Valvoline in TX or Alabama, don't recall where. Valvoline offered me a choice of refund or product. I opted for the oil. They sent me a box with three jugs.

So I got four for the price of one.

I’m not sure I see how a bad experience ordering from WalMart is related? This post reads like you are suggesting ordering from Valvoline directly is risky because of an experience with Wal-Mart. I’m confused.

Never had a bad experience with ordering (Valvoline), stuff is very well packaged. And I have a saved a couple of bucks.

A few months ago I had thought about purchasing 4 of the 5 quart jugs directly from them. The price even with the free shipping (and they had an additional fee to enhance and guarantee problem free shipping) if I choose to accept it turned me off. Either offer free shipping or add the charge to warranty the condition of the product to be problem free from leaks, etc. I also wasn't sure if I could still apply for the $5.00 per jug warranty.

I'm not sure if they still try to add the extra fee for shipping. I just buy from Wal-Mart which has it in stock at the same price if not a little bit lower and I also get the rebate with no problems.

Kind of nice they offer the service when most other oil companies will not.

Basically, boils down to how people value their time and ease of convenience? I would imagine the farther someone is away from either Walmart or other box store retailers, the more attractive this would be.
