I've done several searchs the last few days on HT/HS. I was thinking that the higher the #'s, the better it would be in my Victory MC. It appears that just because an oil has higher #'s doesn't mean that it won't shear and thin out quicker than an oil with lower #'s. I thought that higher #'s indicated better shear stability? Can anyone comment or point me toward some hard data. I have used the Victory oil 20W-40 semi synthetic and it appears to thin out after just a few hundred miles. The transmission gets noisy and shifting is even louder. I have also used the Rotella 5W-40 full synthetic for the last 2 oil changes. I don't notice any difference in the sound of the tranny after oil changes with the Rotella but there is a lot of difference after a change with Victory oil. I am planning on doing an oil analysis after this oil change. What temp should be specified for the viscosity test?

Any recommendations for an oil in this all gear drive tranny? Also do you have any data to base decisions on?

thanks in advance,
