So yesterday was my last day at work; it was also a nice final week. Monday the Judge took my two assistant prosecutors and myself to lunch; Thursday and Friday several attorneys and police officers stopped by. The judge also had some nice things to say at the start of my last motion docket, as did the AG at yesterday's swearing in of my successor. I checked the stats and my office closed 2,534 cases over the past six years, which I'm very proud of. Most of the credit goes to my staff (five in total); I picked intelligent women and I didn't micromanage them. I always had their back if someone gave them any cr*p, and as a result we got a lot done. It was a great six years, but it was time to hand it off to a younger generation.

Enjoy your retirement!
I have mentioned here a few times that I retired in May 2023 at age 53 (after 31 years doing Photoshop retouching) and I love the freedom! I’m working part time as a tour guide in Niagara Falls (and Niagara on the Lake) and it has been a great way to meet fantastic people from all around the world, keeps me active and puts some extra cash in my pocket too 🤩

Looking at what he drives, and the fact that he retired once before, I have a suspicion that he's been living life all along or at least for quite some time. Call me jealous. :) Can't wait to get there myself, although I have a very hard time believing I'd ever want to go back into work, once I leave.
Yes, I first retired in 2008. In June of 2016 I went to work as a product specialist/salesman at my BMW dealer. In December of 2017 I resigned from BMW and served as city attorney for my hometown. At about the same time I was coerced into running for Commonwealth’s Attorney; I ran in 2018 (promising my bride that it was my last campaign) and took office in January 2019.
Now I’m planning to volunteer for a couple of ministries my wife and I support. We also plan to travel a bit and I’ll also be on call as a retired judge. Finally, I plan to get back to instructing at HPDEs.

Respect is well deserved my friend.
