Since running a search didn't yield anyone who's sliced open one of these before ... well, here's what I found inside several months ago:

 -

 -

- 90 pleats, pretty evenly spaced, each glued down very tightly. The paper is ribbed to keep the pleats separate.
- The filter pleat measured 2-1/4" tall, with 89 of the pleats measuring to 25/32" deep. The pleat at the crimp measured to 3/4".
- Each pleat offers 2 sides, for a total of 180 sides of filter surface.

(2.25*0.78125*178) + (2.25*.75*2) yields just over 316 sq.in. of surface area.

Mann is the OEM to Volvo, and these filters are used exclusively by many Volvo owners, even though I do admit that I'm not that picky ... my fleet runs on the parent's filters too (Ford/Motorcraft). Still, these are a great value (IMHO) for between $3-$4 at several online retailers.

The base is a pretty typical 3/4" x 16tpi, so it can be used in other applications too. It's just slightly shorter than a FL-300.

-- Kane ... if I'm wrong, though, then forget I said anything.

Thanks for doing this. I've used these for years on my Volvos and have always been curious.

The white ADBV is an unusual color for sure. I wonder what material it is.

The even spacing of the pleats and neat glue job are signs of careful manufacturing IMO.
