The good, bad, ugly pop up campers

Not the best choice in the region I live in. Lots of rain...especially in the mountains where you would camp. Tend to get musty, moldy, and discolored. 100% important to dry out before storing. Best kept in a garage in winter. Not a lot of protection from bears or bad people. And generally a poor resale.

Poor resale is a good thing for the second hand buyer.

I got both of mine off CL. Dealerships, at least around here, don't seem to stock many pups. The real money is on the bigger travel trailers, of course. It's worth walking around dealership lots, but I simply waited until I found something I wanted on CL. Fall is of course a good time to buy, spring about the worst--but deals always pop up (no pun intended). At this price level you never know who might need some quick cash.

Don't forget, propane tanks expire. Not a big cost but something to be aware of. Been toying with replacing the dead marine battery in mine--but since it's never off shore power I haven't bothered. I know if I do replace the battery I plan to open up the AC convertor and disable the charger, as it's a dumb one, and replace with something smarter.
