I only use Mobil 1 in my cars. I'm wondering what the difference in Mobil 1 and Wal-Mart oil is. The wal-mart oil has the approval seal on the bottle so is it the same as Mobil 1?

From PQIA, Mobil 1's TBN is 9.7 while Supertech's is only 7.6. They're closer on NOACK though where Mobil 1's is 10.1 and Supertech's is 11.6. Those two #'s don't tell the whole story but I believe for most applications Supertech will have a lower cost per mile of use than Mobil 1 and protect your engine just fine with proper OCI.

I use "Mobil 1 10w30" for my 95 Maxima and 2008 Chrysler Town & Country Van. I was refering to the API approval seal that is on each bottle of oil and once I noticed that Mobil 1 and the Wal-Mart Super Tech synthetic both had this stamp I assumed that both types had to be pretty much the same.
I'm guessing that Mobil 1 is different by offering more additives?

mobil 1 is different by having different additive concentrations... and also a higher TBN and slightly lower noack volatility

Since you don't know the formulation makeup of M1,(base oil and additives) can you explain your statement"marginally better"? Does this statement fit all oils of the same rating?
