Wow, and your dollar is at near parody with ours. $10 adult, $7.50 matinee, kids $6.50 here. One theater close by lets my 3 year old in for free (so of course I go there), others charge.

Popcorn $4 and up as well as drinks.

I'll probably see BM on the Imax in a couple of weeks after the crowds shrink a little.

should be "have drUnk".
a "spoiler warning" comment in the beginning might have been decent from anyone who wants to describe the movie, so others can avoid it, if they haven't seen the movie yet.
just MHO.

Well, sorry for not seeing in my crystal ball that some dumbarse was going to post a major spoiler in the thread that I started!.

So I lied and had time to see this last night at a non-IMAX. Pretty good flick on balance. I thought Bale actually did a better job than Ledger, though no complaints about his portrayal of the joker.

The special effects on Two Face was very good.

I don't think he meant for you to post the warning, just the person posting the spoiler.

I'm just having fun here.

I really liked it; however there was so much to process due to the Joker's never ending thirst for creating chaos and destruction, and I feel like i need to see it on dvd again to get everything cleared up. LOTS of explosions...
and Heath Ledger's performance (to me) was the center attraction..made Batman himself seem a bit in the background...Bale was good, too, though.
did not like Maggie much. why can't they find some other chick for this role?
Aaron Eckhart (sp?) did a good job as Harvey Dent. just right, not too over the top..

It's a very dark movie; violence aside, just the intentions and the thought process of the joker (not to mention his appearance) make this movie unsuitable for kids. It's just not for them, and I'm glad they didn't try to make it compatible. If they did, the darkness and the gloom that I enjoy so much in a character like the Joker would've been lost.
(There are enough movies for kids out there; this one's not for them; there was a kid in the theater, who kept crying the whole freaking time)

all in all, it was not less than what I expected; so I'm def. happy I saw it. Just have a feeling that Batman Begins was more organized, and more coherent...but then, the Joker is supposed to be chaotic, isn't it?
Gothem, needs to get worse before it gets better, and that's what this movie shows...and in that prospect, the movie ends in a gloomier state than Batman Begins did..and it leaves you wondering about the better times coming, and some hope depsite all the gloom which we right now
...perhaps the next installment is not so serious...?

It left me feeling disturbed. Perhaps that feeling was intensified by the fact that most of my children (all 13 and above) saw it and loved it. Probably would not bother me if I felt the average citizen was above simply loving the gore and violence, but understood the more profound statements the movie made about chaos and order.

I think the idea at the center of the movie is about people and the choices they make when faced with great challenges. In this case the challenge is confrontation with utter chaos, which the Joker promotes with all his might. The Joker corrupts people, and the consequences of such corruption are severe, especially when it comes to an individual's ethics.

Harvey Dent becomes corrupted: previously a man with the noble goal of eliminating crime in Gotham, he now just wants revenge for his personal loss. Revenge means justice for him. He goes from decent human to a tragic figure (truly tragic, because his fall is due to him believing that he is doing the right thing). I believe it is important to point out that Dent does not become a villain, but an anti-hero.

Batman himself gets dragged down to almost the level same level as Dent -- a level which is mentioned by the Joker. Batman is being corrupted and becomes a borderline vigilante. He is using any means necessary (See mass surveillance a la UK) to get the information he needs. He is forced to make choices (Specifically having to choose between saving Rachel or Harvey) that involve a thought process that is inherently corrupt in nature, because it requires a rationalization that allows even making a choice. Who lives, who dies, and how can one possibly make the choice without also finding darkness in his own heart? Batman's choice costs him also the support of Lucius Fox, who, while helping out one last time, can himself not live with acting unethically in an effort to do good. It all boils down to the lesson that doing the unethical thing in an effort to achieve good is not acceptable.

Batman doesn't kill the villain. He MUST KNOW the villain will get out and come back -- and yet he chooses not to kill. He's not been corrupted to a point where he accepts killing as a valid means (other than in self-defense). The scene on the two ferry boats is about the same ethic issue: is killing to save yourself and others an ethically viable choice? Can you live with your actions? Clearly, Batman is deeply conflicted, which is why at the end of the movie he chooses to storm off into the dark, being hunted by the law.

Cordon deals with corruption inside the Gotham City administration all the time. He is eventually forced to fake his own death, antagonizing his own family. Gordon is in my opinion the most ethical of the main characters, though. Working in an environment where a large number of his own people are corrupt and working with or for the mob, must be extremely frustrating.

The Joker is a fulcrum of applied pressure that upset a delicate balance of forces (aka "good versus evil"). He really does not appear to have any motive other than causing chaos just for the sake of chaos, which is entertainment to him. We don't find out anything about the Joker's past. Sure, he keeps telling the story of how he became disfigured, but it's a totally different story each time.

The script of this movie is much more complex than that of any mainstream crime movie or drama. The themes are dark and fairly challenging. That most people like the movie, even if they find it disturbing, is a good sign and tells me that they get the message.
