I find it amazing how the hype changes the quality of the de facto product.

Agree.

Batman Begins was a better movie IMO. Heath's performance was very good, but nothing special IMO.

Uh, buster, you are not agreeing with me. Hype has no effect on the quality of a movie. If someone is disappointed because of hype, it's due to your failed expectations. Why would you believe what other people say and get your expectations up -- based on exactly what? Eh?

Someone will show up and say, "You MUST see this movie!" Another person will say, "This was a total let-down. Don't waste your money!" Only one way to find out if any movie is to your liking.

Um, yeah I know that. When critics and the general public rave about a move, I use that as an indication of how good it is. Whether it is or not is subjective and up to the individual obviously. However, hype at times can skew one's opinion of a movie and cause them to believe it's good because people are saying it is. Sheep.

So what is Mori's "elitist opinion" of the film?

I thought the Dark Knight was awesome. I'm not a Batman freak but I thoroughly enjoyed its predecessor; Batman Begins.

I didn't like the campy aspect of the previous movies done with Keaton/Kilmer and the last two movies really were dark and appealing considering this is Batman. The movie was well acted and the story was interesting throughout. Forget the hype, this was a good movie.

I'm looking forward to the movie and especially H. Ledger's performance; He is brilliantly talented, and that can't be denied, even judging by the previews.
I think his performance will be the highlight, whether it lives up to hype or not.

HL would've been a great actor had he lived and gathered more experience.

While you're there, never let a bad book spoil a good movie.

everyone knows it's the book that is always better than the movie

Lets see...couple of weeks ago, 2 adults, a 6 year old, and a three year old (free), one small bucket of popcorn, three icecreams, two pints of water...and a "discount" card...$68.

Tell that to a six year old who's only been to 3 movies in her life...first one with her Grandma.

$17 for adults, $14 for kids, the extras just add to their fun.

if I go to a movie, last one I went was Indiana jones a few months ago, because my wife bugged me to death about it. I ate before we went to the movie. I find eating at a movie, I get distracted by the chomping and soda slurping.
