The Box House

how well is it built? way too much of america is form over substance. i wish there are more affordable, prefabricated, steel-framed box houses on the market, with living, family & bed-rooms facing onto a scenic backyard of planted trees, and kitchen, toilets, utility rooms on the street side.

They look like someone added a second story to a ranch.

Around here everything is priced per linear foot so it doesn't matter how many bump outs and corners there are.

This builder got around...
Ruined a bunch of prime real estate. F section

There are but they're found in California and New England.

Contrasting trim would help a lot. As-is, the garage door looks like a blank wall. Garage door windows would also help.
Yup agreed.
I am not a snob and would buy houses like these if priced right. But it makes no sense to build generic houses these days with land scarcity

You guys talking about curb appeal... I was looking at several custom builders and their designs have no consideration for the owners.

Big beautiful house with the heat pump next to the master bedroom window right where your headboard would be.

In the old days on the east coast the same and the heater and then indoor well pump right under the the master bedroom in the basement.

Stupid thoughtless builders..

There was a few things it reminds me of:

"It looks like affordable housing build today" with little style and accessories, changes in exteriors that break patterns, large flat walls, etc. The multiple of small windows instead of using the opportunity of a larger window is beyond me,

figure you aint familiar with Fla hurricane windows... house in photo might be designed around standard sized impact resistant glass which are much cheaper than custom sized hurricane glass... For an idea of costs, I had 9 Miami Dade rated ( Miami Dade Code is even higher and more restrictive than standard hurricane window code) windows installed and I spent $11,000 dollars.. that was 2018 price.. so that might be in there if the guy was doing affordable and still wanted some daylight in the house.
