Unfortunately yes. There's no doubt, after seeing the ADBV tears in other threads, that Purolator has built this problem into their new filters as well. Chances are the valve will stay together and never cause a problem but I don't want to take a chance on a piece breaking off, flowing through the bypass valve and into my engine.

funflyer - since this is on the inlet side of the filter, would not the filter catch any silicone cuttings in the filter? Wouldn't this only cause a loss in anti drain back function?


Not a sliver of ADBV, but an event of material migration through a BPV.

Note the media was intact but a piece of glue plugged something up in the engine
