For 49c after rebate at CSK Murray, both are SM, which one is better?

I remember the high Moly in Chevron, but what about Shell? Some posts here mentioned that it is the better of the 2, but I haven't seen many UOA on it (at least some for Chevron).

I understand that Chevron seems to have a very close formula to Motorcraft, Trop Artics, or maybe even the Penzoil Yellow Bottle (Group II+, high moly, lower ZDDP/Calcium, no sodium). What is Shell similar to? Valvoline due to low ash additive package and still low wear metal? no sodium?

Any suggestion?

I've used Chevron with excellent UOAs in my Silverado when I had it. In fact, my BEST UOA was with it.

Never done a UOA with Shell. I've used it in the PT Cruiser and Exploder.

No problems on those 2.

But if I had a choice, Chevron would edge out Shell.

Take care, bill

The answer is simple..... YES!!!
Use either one and enjoy oil at a great price....

engine oil for less than half the price of gas, and 20% of the price for diesel says something interesting.

Coupled to US engine oils being not much thicker than diesel, if I had a diesel with the old inline bosh pump, I'd be filling up on rebate.

I usually go to kragen.com (or under different name in your area) and check for the local ad flyer. The stores around here has the coupon outside and have huge posters to announce 99c SynPower/PenPlatnium or 49c Chevron/Shell all the time, you can't miss it.

Everything else in the store is usually ridiculously overpriced. Oh well, they have to make money somehow.
