You should look up the Russian B-29

As well as the Russian ME 262- the Sukhoi Su-9.
I'm sad that I was born too late to ever see a B-36 in flight.

Great story. When in the Navy in the mid 60's I worked and flew in the Navy's P2V Neptune. It had two R3350 radial engines and two J34 turbo jets. The R3350 was the engine on the B 29. The only difference was the B 29s engines were supercharged and the Neptunes were turbo charged. As an engine mechanic I spent many hours skinning my knuckles on the 18 cylinders of the R3350.

Got to see FiFi when it flew into Fort Sill years ago and then when it left, it buzzed the post. Wow.

Tig1 were you ever stationed at NAS Weymouth? I used to see the P3 out over the bay. My cousin worked on the line making them. She was proud to be a part of the team that built the Orion.

The Enola Gay and Bockscar were both made at the Martin Bomber Plant in Bellevue, Nebraska by a lot of Nebraska ladies just like Rosie. The site is now Offutt Air Force Base, which is the biggest employer in the state.
