4-5 months ago i replaced the Pads on the front of my wifes accord, i did not however have the Rotors turned. Why ?, well the philips head screw on the passenger side was rounded out and needed extracted.. And of course that's another one of the tools on my ever growing "to buy list" So i gave the rotors a good look and they appeared in 80% great shape.. Heck with it, pads went on and after several (Emergency stops) to seat the pads i declaired victory and decided the Rotors could wait till another day.. Well another day, another week, month, couplea months, and then 5 months later i drive pretty wifes car again, And of course i notice pulsating.. Great, oops, oh yeah..
I decide im simply to Busy with house renovations and the shop can take care of it (Honda Dealer) A appointment is made, and the car dropped off..
We (wife and I) go out for a leisurely breakfast
The call from dealer: Sir, did you notice a clicking upon starting the car ?
Me: No
Wife: err, I forgot to mention its done that a few times Hunny
Me: So what is it.
Dealer: the starters starting to go out.
Me on a 07 Accord with 70,xxx on it ???
Dealer: Yes sir, its starting to fail..
Me: Ok, whats the damage ?
Dealer: $390.00 and i can have a OEM starter here tomorrow, Or you can opt for non OEM and save $90.00 but we dont Honor the Labor price if theres a warranty claim for non OEM parts.
ME: Order us the OEM..
Dealer: Yes Sir
Pause..
Dealer: Also Sir your rear brake pads are down to 2MM
ME: how much am i into the front axle to you for ?
Dealer $140.00
ME: Ok do the rear..
Dealer: Yes Sir
Pause..
Dealer: Sir, did you know you have a broken clear lamp lense on the rear of the car ?
Me: No
WIFE: err, yeah, happend at work babe, not sure how..
Me: How much ?
Dealer:, Well the lense is not just a lense, its actually a housing and its $80.00
Me: And you stock this ?
Dealer: No but we can have it here same day with your starter..
Me: Ok, get it.
Wifes just beaming with joy at this point..
We return to dealer after lunch.
Bill $ $440.00 for front and rear axle..
$40.00 for a diognostic of the starter problem
$140.00 for the front axle
$220.00 for the rear axle
$40.00 for the Screw extraction.
Dealer, gave me a detailed breakdown, I didnt exactly catch why the rear axle was so much more expensive.. oh well, at this point i dont care...
Cars back the next day
Bill: $520.00
Starter $390.00
lense $80
Labor for lense install $50.00
Almost a thousand bucks.. and i thought her car was just getting a little brake work.. Atleast breakfast was good
