Gots a used 99 Dodge Caravan L4 2.4L with a bit over 70k. From the service records I do not think the coolant had ever been changed. Per recommendation, I added 8oz of RMI-25 to the coolant. Before application, the coolant looked 'decent', overflow bucket was a little dirty and there were a few small deposits I could see through the radiator cap. 700 miles after application the deposits that I can see through the cap are gone, overflow bucket looks the same and I have the expected gel crap with some flecks of what I assume is old scale and corrosion floating in the overflow.
From what I understand this is normal and it's ok to let the gelled crap stay put. I'm not eager to change the coolant and I guess that was one of the reasons for RMI-25 in the first place... Should I flush it now? Let the RMI-25 work a few thousand miles more? Syphon out what I can see in the overflow? Paint the overflow black, out out of sight, out of mind? Quit being a wussy?
All suggestions welcome.
Regards
