Toyota Genuine Motor Oil (TGMO) 0W16 API SP, Date of Manufacture is Oct 2020

I previously posted a UOA on a factory fill with 46 miles on it. Thought it would be interesting to contribute to the form by posting a VOA of TGMO 0W16 API SP so it could be compared to the factory fill. Your thoughts?

Blackstone comments: This 0W16 should do well in its intended use. Do note that this virgin oil has 12 ppm of silicon.

I am assuming this is a Idemitsu oil. If so, where do they get their base stocks from?

Thanks for sharing this OP.

Do über-thin oils like 0W16's require lots of antiwear (moly, etc) to make up for the lack of viscosity?
Lubes ‘N’ Greases magazine had an article not too long ago about thinner viscosity oils. They stated that tighter engine tolerances and thinner oils are creating situations where the boundary lubrication can be sacrificed, then stated the growing importance for additives to prevent wear.

It’s been like that. They blend some excellent oil out of Jeffersonville Indiana.

The plant code on the bottle is Mobil Oil plant #102, Is that located in Indiana?

Mobil/Exxon Date Code on the bottle =10220J17A
Translation: Plant # 102, Year 20 = 2020, Month J = Oct, Day of the month 17, Production run of the day = A

Mobil Super (3000), which is a group III basestock

Both seem hard to reference, Super 3000 in 2020 was shown as HC in some places and GTL in others.
Exxon's Toyota 0W-16 in Japan was (identical to some Super 3000) HC oil (50-60%, the rest remained unclear).
