I have used it and it seems to do ok, maybe comparable to Quaker State Ultimate Durability. Don't know about extended drain with it with a 7.7 TBN. The PDS now Vs. the one before the name change shows the same levels of additives and same NOAK at 13%. Even with that, I didn't notice oil loss due to the NOAK being higher than some of the other options out there.

Keep in mind that TBN is not linear nor is the PQIA "data" generalizable as a whole... so their 5w20 was at 8.8 (shrug). The UOA seem decent enough from them. Sure not a 15K+ oil but it is not marketed that way either.

I am not familiar with the 5W20 variation, just the 5w30. The numbers I came out with came from the pds on havoline's website. It seemed to do a good job so I don't have any complaints with it. I think the only way to be able to tell how its holding its TBN is through sampling which I didn't do. I would run it again in a heart beat, actually have 4.5 quarts sitting on the shelf for winter (its a bit thinner than most other 5w30's) but I tend to keep my OCI's short, like 5K miles and I have no doubt that it holds up rather well with how I use it. I do wonder why the volatility is higher than most, could be they use majority group III or high amount of VII's, but as I stated, no make up oil was needed when I used it before, level stayed the same throughout. I like it for a few reasons, rather inexpensive if you don't sample and get those deals at AAP and just do mild OCI's and it seems to keep my engine clean, low viscosity and easy flow when it's cold as [censored] outside. I wouldn't say that it keep my engine smooth and quiet but almost sure that my engine likes the oil just a little bit thicker at operating temp. I like something different in the summer though for my purpose. I did try it in a small 18hp engine (mower), definitely not suited for that, it didn't smoke or anything but my oil level dropped a lot more than I would have expected (guessing small amounts passing the p ring from being thinner or the volatility, so a bit thicker oil served me better for that.
