Broken tail light, exhaust leak, drivers window and cruise control don’t work. I knew about the tail light beforehand but was disappointed with all the other stuff. The window and cruise control might just be fuses but the exhaust leak would probably mean buying parts. Man, was it loud!

I still might offer them $2k for it. The engine and transmission seemed solid.

$2k seems high.

Did both the heat and AC work correctly? The blend door motor is notorious for breaking.

That seat looks pounded with old dust gas. If AC/heat works and no rust that is a steal.

Too bad my scooter is broken... I'd ride it 450 miles there, pick up that Grand Marquis, and bring it down to Carolinas. Under 100k miles for $2500 (or possibly less) is a win in my book. The little stuff is annoying, but easily fixable, and I've seen worse in that budget.

Hmmm....With all the body damage, offer less than $2,000...bring $1,200 in cash.
If the tires are shot too, go for the thau.

Nearly identical car, 2000 4.6l/4R70W (not the Taurus transmission) w<100k,
Good bod, interior,
One opera light gone, sets low (tired springs), slow driver's window (common)
Worth $3,000, I'm guessing

I find that in spite of decent experience buying beaters, I only find half the stuff that's wrong during my pre-purchase inspection. I factor this fudge factor in and do quite well.

It's got low mileage and if it's not rusty it's worth that.

I always laugh when I see "Silver Birch." One of our people entered a car into the system but misspelled birch, substituting the R for a T. His English still isn't that great but he didn't see why we were all laughing about it.

Sometimes I think about these but I'd rather have a FWD wagon. Yes RWD goes through the snow... so did Model T's. Yet no one pines for one of those.
