First off, I have no agenda other than I watch the stock market and of course Tesla which I never invested in but it's fun to watch. Right now the stock sells at 160 times earnings, that seems to me to be insane. But what do I know? If I knew everything I would be floating around some tropical island right now.

Here are some numbers. I do think there MAYBE some static in here, model change overs etc. But my god, how there can be an excuse for such horrible sale performance I don't know. Then again, what do I know? The stock sells at 160 times earnings *LOL* though granted the stock price is lower than just 3 years ago so I guess nothing to brag about.

1. Just in, Tesla USA JAN 2025 sales down 13% year over year. At the same time USA sales of BEVs grew 15% year over year. Let's also remember they qualify for the $7,500 taxpayer gift at time of sale. This is a swing of 28% USA sales up 15%, Tesla down 13%.

2. Tesla USA market share declined 14% from 59% Jan 2024 to 45% 2025

3. January 2025 China sales down
15% year over year

4. France 2025 year over year sales dropped
63%

5. Germany for (the MONTH) Jan 2025 sales are down 60%

The numbers and totals are still being calculating and coming in. this is what is known so far. Tesla Europe in general sales are down 45% for Jan 2025

The EV market still seems to be ok. What the story will turn out to be for Tesla in the coming months will be interesting. Even as these numbers are refined, this is horrible no matter how you analyze it.

VW which has been hammered actually is showing a 16% increase in sales of the VW brand name. Very fluid, fun to watch I have nothing invested in the auto industry as of 2/25/2025 pre market opening.

Some sources -

Last but not least, European Automobile Manufacturers Association says EV sales soared 37% with big gains in Germany and the UK in Jan 2025 and Tesla is not participating in that.

I dont know where this ends up, I suspect long term it will be ok I still dont understand a 160 times earnings valuation but then again, the same would go for bitcoin.

There is or was an existing investor thread on Tesla. Any investor can google for this information. Why do we need another thread?

They level of Tesla dislike cannot be contained in one thread alone.
We know why , , , , I said to myself 10 years ago other companies will cut into sales down the road it was inevitable. Im thinking of going from hybrid to EV and styling is the only reason I'm not hot on Tsla . The more research I do before purchase may point me to Tsla in the future. I have a open mind .

MUCH more competition. I see Rivian pickup trucks everywhere in my AO. But then again, I'm seeing far more Teslas, too, so maybe the local market here is picking up steam in general.

I'm not an EV fan for me....I'd be ok with a hybrid, but if I were to buy a full EV car, it would be at the low end of the market which would probably lean me toward a Model 3. I haven't done any research on others, but I have a couple employees with Model 3's and they absolutely love them.

It’s good analysis. I agree it could be in the other thread. Although in fairness that thread got diluted from its initial intent.

I personally believe EV’s are nearing the end of the fat part of the S curve in uptake. Could change if there is some advance - primarily in lower priced options.

(ugh) I wasnt going to comment. Correct, thank you, the initial intent of the other thread got polluted with politics. Just a few weeks back and now we have more data. We can talk about Ford, VW and others but when facts are presented on Tesla all of a sudden you are labeled a Tesla hater. *LOL* GO figure.
For those that do not know, which seems to be many, that thread is locked. It would be nice to be able to act like adults for discussion in the EV market place.... and by me posting this I am polluting my own thread but the comments in here, well, never mind, speak for themselves. :)

How about this one , Ford would have been better off if they stuck to charcoal and philco TVs . I guess you can say I'm a slow learner. I have bought nine new Ford vehicles through the years , one was a good vehicle . Their stock price reflects that .

It is hard to separate the EV market from the elephant in the room.

Majority of the poeple think Tesla is synanymous to EV as EV is to Tesla. It's like Colgate is to toothpaste and vice versa. No EV car manufacturer can take that out from Tesla

Tesla made EV a household thing.

They were and still are too fancy and expensive for some people - myself included. Never been a fan.

I liked the Bolt, but GM killed it. Poor battery management in the Leaf makes it a non-contender. I've been strongly eyeing the KONA Evs , though. Especially now that I won't be making a 120 mile round trip every other weekend.

If Tesla makes a "Model Versa" I'll consider them.

The new 2026 Bolt comes out this year. Summer or Fall but before the end of the year. It will be interesting. I suspect it may be well priced only because, well, it seems like that is the only place left for some robust sales growth. However, as in everything, GM will not want to take away from more profitable vehicles.
I suspect as one might think, the base price will come in around $8,000 less than the Equinox. We will see. Let's see if GM messes it up.

I wonder if the taxpayer gift of $7,500 will be gone by then.
