Tesla is a pain in the rear to deal with

I'd love to know where you plan to get a HPFP or how you plan to rebuild it. That's a pretty simple example. Now let's get into sensors...how you gonna make those?
New cars come with warranties, just like your EV battery and motors. Heck I might even bounce for an extended warranty, and go totally against my grain. The 2024 Jeep I'm hoping to buy has the essentially the same engine as my 2016, which has been quite easy to sustain, and not it's DI, a plus in my book. IIRC I can buy the sensors for it too. I'm not seeing it as a problem. With the grace of God I hope to become too old to work on my cars, but that's another story.

I'm sure it will die down any minute.

Dodge. A lot of Dodge. Chrysler is just a horrible brand at everything quality related, IMO.

They make up EIGHT of the top TEN vehicles by brand for property loss/damages, LOL!
It’s ok, I’ll just wait it out. They’ll go away. People living in apartments can’t conveniently own one, or anyone renting, apart from shelling out money to install the charging infrastructure themselves. Really just homeowners who are EV owners. And with the current economic situation, the future does not bode well for EVs. Adios😂

Yeah Stellantis products are garbage, with the exceptions of the hellcats/demons and rams.

Sure, EVs are in their infancy as mass produced vehicles. As you say, time will tell.
Like ICE vehicles, there will be good ones and not so good ones.
For the 1st 5+ years of ownership, this has been the best car I have ever owned in terms of cost to maintain. I've replaced the 12v battery, 1 tire due to a nail near the sidewall, some blue WW juice and the cabin air filter. Cabin AF is a lousy design; too hard to get to and you need a small torx. Elon's wack.
At least the clips didn't break off the first time you tried to remove the cabin filter. Tyler Hoover apparently is having a not so good time with his expensive Cybertruck. I think Tesla needs a really good customer service experience department. Their customer service seems to be all over the road.

Not in my case. They came to my house the next day to install the new 12v battery. The tech performed an end to end inspection as well. Arrived and left right on time. Better than my Lexus service.

There are no clips. Just a panel cover. Should be in a more appropriate location and snap back in. The torx screw is on top. Pain in the butt. Tesla did move it to the bottom of the panel. Remember my car is an early car.

It’s sad to see opinionated hate for Elon being included in otherwise objective assessments of the cars.

I’ve driven a number of model 3 cars. I like them. I’d buy one.

The over reliance on a screen is, IMO, stupid. Techy, yes. But stupid. Many rudimentary things are nested deep. It’s not hard to figure out, it’s just too much time with eyes over of the screen.

Some other vehicles can have poor ergonomics too. I gave an f-150 for about 200 miles. The angle of the screen made it unnecessarily drawing for the eyes to manipulate. I recall the sienna was that way too. Lousy.

But since we’re talking EV… the human-machine interface part of them… I’ll say that while I faced some trials and tribulations with my Chevy bolt EV last fall in WA state, the interfaces and setup was far more human friendly. I’m no slouch when it comes to adopting and embracing technology. As much as I like my old diesels… but the Chevy was FAR superior to the Tesla. You could tell that the Tesla had the s term implemented that way because some people think that big touch screens are cool, and having one makes them look modern. While GM knew what works.

What are you talking about? What is this in relation to?

I bet you support worse people than Musk, if you really break down your purchases and look at where the money went. That's the problem, everyone wants to virtue signal, but really it's just backwards justification. The myth of moral high ground.
How do you know what I buy and don’t buy? Here we have situation that buyers can clearly control, and they are fine with it. Tesla lost 60% of its customer base bcs. racism, playing with neonazis etc. Some people find problematic that their money goes to that guy. There is no myth of mora high ground here. It is actually super simple. This situation is examined in numerous research. My work last 20 years is related to “people “like Musk. It is really not that complicated.

DId you drive the Model 3 and not the Y? The Y still has the column shifter.

The $250 deposit just to get the pre-qual is stupid, but that is refundable at any time if you didn't qualify. I don't have the freedom of doing the 0.99% ...
I agree but it makes me wonder, does Tesla tack on finance fee's and transaction fee's ?
If they dont then maybe the $250 isnt that bad. Freaking car dealers now ... I just saw a Chevy dealer that ads $895 admin fee. REALLY? and if that isnt bad enough they want to add that pain protection garbage for another $595 ... and then people wonder why they like ordering on the internet.
If Tesla doesn't play those games the $250 wouldnt be bad, it just means you want the car and will take it if you can get the financing you are applying for.
In this sense it keeps their system moving smoothly and efficiently

Well, you're making a post on an electronic device, and so there's that, for starters. On an internet censored by the same government that continues to, and has historically, committed absolutely horrific atrocities. So, there are those two things for starters.

This is the point where you should stop embarrassing yourself.

I have no idea their fee structure. I made the $250 deposit and then handed them a check when I picked up the car. The total cost was what was shown to the penny when I committed to the sale when I put the deposit down.

Taxes were paid when registering the vehicle. I wouldn’t have the ability to even see their loan fee structure if there is one being a resident of Wisconsin.

Back pedal city.

My wife wants to look at one. She is afraid of road trip charging in anything else than a Tesla. And she has an objection to buying the same car that my parents have (really, who cares!) Otherwise she wants a hybrid. Never mind that my 70-something parents have been all over the western US in their ID.4. Oh well. I'm meeting her there after work. Happy wife, happy life.
