Those things that make the car look like its squinting?

Yeah. Supposed to look "angry" or something...

Worst...fad...ever.

Not only is a tire forced to fit onto a wheel that it has no business being on but the camber is super jacked into completely useless street levels.

Completely stupid.

Yeah but are they also on an under 10k (when it was new) Sunfire (or equivalent)?

I've seen some that were well done - like not long ago on a pickup with some serious heavy duty aftermarket mods, custom paint job, and decals from the various brands laid out really nice beside the single, perfectly sized, Chevy decal placed on the black rear window. It was already a top notch mod job and the net effect was impressive - it reflected what must have been a ton of careful planning and work that went into the whole project, with the decals just icing the cake.

In the cases where they look cheesy (to my eyes) there is no cake to ice, and the full size back window logos are about as impressive as if the owner had affixed a set of venetian blinds to the window. Actually I would be more impressed by seeing the blinds instead.

Well, you have to admit that it does go along with their sense of fashion...

I agree 100%! These cars with the oversized tires and wheels are absolutely hidious looking! I start laughing out loud ever time I see one on the street.

The spinning wheels are another joke! They also left one off the list....those stupid [censored] mufflers they put on Hondas...

This is stupid however it's not a fad. It has been going on for decades and will continue for more decades. As long as race cars have ultra-wide tires with little clearance and high camber, then some teenager will copy it.

Here are some fads they forgot:

1. Louvres on hatchbacks
2. Pinstripes and plastic side moulding
3. Dark green color
4. Heads-up display ala jet fighters

Carbon fiber inside 'ordinary' cars is a fad and looks tacky because often it's not really CF or it was added as an aftermarket kit and wasn't done well. The fake one is just plastic with a photo of CF glued on it, kinda like comparing pergo laminate flooring versus real oak flooring.

Real CF on exotics is awesome looking. Check out a Lamborghini with genuine CF factory interior or CF engine bay that was done professionally, it's a sight to behold.

My Daytona had both

As far as I know, the rattly aluminum louvers are still in the attic at the house I was renting in Ft Worth. They were better looking than the ABS plastic ones on the '74-'81 Camaro-birds
The bright orange pinstripes had a little "Turbo Z" in it. They stayed on.

3. Dark green color

If it's dark green, it needs to be British.

OK, I gotta ask, what's a 'doof-doof' stereo?

You know the ones...

You pull up at the lights, and there's a hatchback (usually), with the windows shut, two laid back dudes, with the seat leaning way back, and the car shaking with "doof-doof-doof-doof" coming out of the shaking panels.

more context.

I think HUDs are fantastic. My brother's Corvette has it, and it makes it such that you never have to look down when driving. It's got the tachometer, speedometer, and fuel level right there on the windshield. I think it's one of the best modern technology adaptations to the automobile, frankly.

I wish our two cars had HUDs.
