Tell me about Amsoil XL

I sometimes see Amsoil XL 10w30 going into cars at a mechanic's shop i once took my car to. Please tell me more about the benefits and rating of this oil? Is it "conventional?" Is it good for 5000 or 6000-mile OCIs? Thank you.

A quick search revealed about 400 hits.

Basically its Syn oil thats designed for manufacturer OCI's not extended drains.

Actually Amsoils OE line is designed for the OEM intervals.

XL is claimed for 10k miles / 6 months
with a proper working engine, of course.

OE - equivalent to your basic GF-5/SN motor oil
XL - equivalent to mid grade synthetics like PP, Mobil Super Syn, Synpower etc.
ASL/AZO etc - equivalent to Mobil 1 Extended Performance /PU
