It's been awhile since I asked this, so I'll ask it again. The Tecumseh Vector engines with the carb that has the plastic bowl that's held in place with a bale. I've never been able to make one work after it seems to wear out. I know if you buy the $18 bowl assembly and swap it out, the engine runs great. Anyone have any luck cleaning/troubleshooting these carbs without replacing the bottom end? I've, seriously, taken them completely apart and cleaned every nook and cranny with no luck.

It's better to rebuild the carb as those plastic ones can be a pain. I drag race Mod. lawn tractors so I have experience with B&S and Tecumseh.

The only thing I can figure is that the plastic warps, breaks or melts somewhere to make the bottom-end useless. Replacing the bowl makes it an easy fix, but people are so cheap, it's hard to convince them it's the right thing to do. "17 dollars for a part?!? Maybe I can find another mower in a rummage sale".
