Talk to me about late model Lexus. GX460s

If you value getting through the apocalypse in style and security (and have a stash of fuel for said apocalypse) its a great choice.
(These are all things I care about)

So I looked at them long and hard.
On the other hand for the same price you can get a same year Nissan Armada, with is in the next size+capability class up, a much stronger V8 with 400 hp, instead of the GXs 301, same mpg, bigger body, modern headlights, equally comfy interior, more room, more payload more towing.

I drive the "poor mans GX460" which is a older generation Pathfinder. Mine has the 5.6L V8, 4x4, same size also leather also hi end stereo, also sunroof etc etc
But of course much less prestige (and a fraction of the price, while being significantly quicker with the bigger engine)
In the Middle East, Australia and Africa while the Land Cruiser(LX) and the Prado variant(GX) are considered the king of 4WD, the Nissan Patrol(what the Armada and Infiniti QX80 are known as outside of the US and China in the QX’s case) isn’t a slouch either.

The UN has been known to use Land Cruiser 100/200 series, as well as the 120/150 Prado series but the Patrol is also used by them.

The 4Runner is the US version of the Hilux Surf, itself being the basis for the Land Cruiser Prado 120/150 series, which is our GX470/460. In essence, a Lexus GX is basically a nicer(subjective with that **** grille on the 2016-current models) 4Runner with a V8, real wood, somewhat better fake leather(real leather is an option on the GX with the premium/luxury/F Sport packages, luxury adds on nicer wood) and KDSS(HAC is an option).

I like my GX460. A lot. It is not a sports car, but it is nice blasting across the Texas prairie. I have not seen hide nor hair of any of the reliability issues. The reason I got it was it was the smallest thing that (with the ****ed third-row seats removed) could hold a bike in the rear, vertically, with only the front wheel removed. Yes it guzzles gas, but I don't put in much mileage apart from those cross-country drives. Yes the tech is old - who cares? The newest will be "old" in three years anyway. I saved a bundle by buying it one year old with 10000 miles, probably from someone who decided they didn't like it as with some of the people here. Works for me.

I told my wife I'd like to be buried in it, except that would be a waste of a perfectly good truck.

I agree. Big Nissan fan here.
That we can buy a Nissan Armada new for 45-50k , which is basically a slightly decontented Patrol (Y62) that usually retails for 80k elsewhere in the world in amazing!!
