I won't talk you out of it. Looks like a nice XF. If it's been well-maintained and has service records, and the price is right, I'd say go for it too! Of course I love a jag.

When I saw one about 30 years back the inside was beautiful; just looking at the outside doesn't capture what the car's really about.
I'd guess that's even truer today, as they aren't that different from any other car on the outside.

+1

Look closely, they look like Buicks now.

Nice car, but it would have to be right place right time kind of thing, for a Buick-looking Jag.

It's always a good idea to have plenty of cash for repairs when buying a used car. That said, the car in question may or may not need costly repairs.

Companies do overcome bad reputations. Look at Quaker State and Pennzoil, for example.

The Jag was one of the most fun to drive cars ever. Great combo of ride, road feel, power.

Just found the cabin noise to be a little too high.

Also love the styling of this and just about any Jag. Reliability though is now a concern.

No way would I compare a Jag to a Buick. Buick vs Hyundai and maybe even higher end Toyota as well as Lexus models that are too much like Toyota. And maybe the Ford inspired Jag X and S types but not the current Jags.

Same here. Buicks have always been one of my favorite cars.

I too would worry about reliability, though some people aren't as bothered with it.

Don't buy it with borrowed money.

As long as you know it's Ford engine and running gear in a pretty frock!
Jags depreciate like the Titanic in the UK and have a rep for lots of problems.

Agreed. Didn't care much for previous Jags, thought they had a boring look to them. But the new ones are sharp.

I drive a Jaguar X-Type. Some think it's just a crunched and folded Ford Mondeo/Contour. Even the 2.5L "Duratec" V6 engine is from the same family.

However, the Jag is a very nice car. It drives really well. The engine is very responsive (although, not particularly powerful) . Only the uninformed would say the AWD X-Type is "Just" a Ford Contour.

I'm not going to list the stunning number of differences and improvements as that's not my point. Rather, I'm going to say that I really like the way my Jaguar drives, the way it handles, the quick and nicely weighted steering, the powerful brakes, the sporty but not harsh feel, the instant throttle response, I like the comfort, I like the good audio system etc. I rent cars all the time. It's rare indeed when I drive a rental that has better driving dynamics than my Jaguar.

It's not a BMW, it's a Jag, but it is a drivers car.

I inherited the car, and was not initially thrilled with owning an "old mans" Jag. I couldn't have been more wrong. I like it and now have 130,000 miles on it.
