I just installed a 195* thermostat, and temps still will not go over 189*, as with the last one. Reading is through the obd port. What can I do to get it to run between 198* and 210*? I can't find a thermostat rated higher then the one I already have. This truck has one heck of a cooling system, even in the summer, no matter how much I rip it, temps will barely move. Today after an hour drive I open the radiator cap and the coolant is cold... Maybe it's normal, I don't know.

Exactly. A thermostat is *always* something to get OEM on.

I wouldn't worry about it... 6 degrees doesn't amount to much ..could just be your gauge.

Considering that the thermostat keeps the engine warm by blocking the flow of hot coolant to the radiator that would be an indication that the thermostat is not broken. Your location is listed as NY. It's cold outside.
