Im about to do an oil change on my 2002 Tacoma V6 and i was courious how much oil comes out of the filter? Im taking the filter off through the wheel well. Also im planning to order this http://parksoffroad.com/tacomamods/fumoto/fumoto.htm to make oil changes easier but since i have to remove the skidplate so i dont get oil all over the place is it worth while to order this valve? If i do get this valve i do not plan on taking the skid plate off but if oil gets all over the place from the filter to me it does not make sence to purchase this valve. Thanks.

I have the same vehicle, installed Fumoto and love it (so much so that I did others in the fleet). No need to remove skid plate either, just back passenger side front tire onto a brick which gives a nice tilt and cut up an old anti-freeze jug (rectangular)and place this under oil filter area to catch oil before it flows onto skid plate!Tried all the filters but the WIX-51348 with threaded end by-pass and re-inforced silicone ADV works best in this UPSIDE -DOWN filter application. I tried the BITOG touted Motocraft 400 ala Walmart for $3.28 but caution against it as I did not like the way it looked and felt while installing it and just saved it for an emergency. 5.7 QTS. W/filter will do it. I like 2 QTS. of Pennzoil Platinum blended with a balance of regular Pennzoil (5w30).

Peter uses a heavy duty aftermarket skidplate(it's thick and can support the weight of the truck unlike the stocker, he destroyed his stocker within 6 months(tin metal). If you offroad with the stock skid plate the Fumato is going to be in a precarious position possibly the lowest solid object between the front wheels.A rock will find it.. murphys law. For this application I think the more compact fram sure drain is safer.
I changed the filter one time on my 4Runner and installed a remote setup. The single change got me a skidplate with enough oil it that it dripped for a week. I'll put up with that on my Ford, but not on my Toyota.
If you have an air ratchet the skidplate can be off in about a minute. It's not that big a deal to remove it and it's lot better that crawling into the wheelwell IMO. Plus I think the bolts for the skid will last though many removals. I would bet the plastic fasteners in the wheelwell won't...
