i loved the t-tops on my '97 camaro. i'm guessing the people that complain about them have never owned a car with them. i never had anything but compliments from passengers on mine.

I WOULD never own a car with them! I knew several people that did, which is one reason I refuse to own a car with them! They leak, they squeak, they weaken the chassis, they turn the car into a sauna in the summer & an icebox in the winter.

How old were they? Maybe in the 70's, but in cars like my Trans Am that is not the case.

Newest was a 1994 Firebird. Oldest was a 1980(?) Camaro. Worst was probably a Dodge Daytona...the owner wound up siliconing them shut to finally stop the leaks.

My Daytona did not leak unless you hit it in just the right spot with 125psi of scalding water. Guess it depends on which company installed them.

I have a 86 Turbo Z CS with T-tops, no issues at all.
No leaks, and yes the car is hot when it sits in the sun because it is black.

Cars and Concepts did a very nice job.

My '84 Olds Cutlass had T-tops. Loved it. I fabbed up some panels to put up there in the summer to keep the sun out, because it did get hot. But riding around with the tops out was great.

Ross, did you have those T-Tops installed on your Fiero or were the OE? I have never seen them on a Fireo... Love'em!

I don't really see many Fireo's anymore. Once in awhile, about every 5-6 years! Yours look great!

My buddy Ed(RIP) had an '86 Red Fiero GT 5spd V6 that was Fun, Fun, Fun! T-Tops would have added to the splendor

The t-top kit was an aftermarket setup that could be installed on any fiero 84-88. It was sold and installed by a company called C&C concepts. But for 88 only you could actually order your fiero with the same C & C kit installed, so it arrieved at the dealership with them preinstalled. For 84-87 it was aftermarket only.

OT, but I've got to know; has anyone stuffed an LSx or such into one of those yet?? (I'd love to do this as a project at some point!

Personally I hated them on my 1986 Monte SS until I had the glass tinted so dark that it only lets about 5 percent of the light through. Mine dont ever leak, but I rarely take them off and when I do I usually put a little protectant on the weatherstripping to condition it.

After the last '72 convertible car rolled of the assembly line in Detroit(or where ever), T-Tops were all we had unless the imports had something other then a BENZ 500 SEL!

Who wouldn't love a true convertible? Wife and I still love cruising around in our Firebird FORMULA w/T-Tops and they're OE!

I'd like to add that my T-Tops only leaked when new and only on one corner of the passenger side. But, over the years and lots of silicone type tire/rubber products on the weather stripping around the T's, they haven't leaked in at least 29 of the 32 years that I've owned the car(and I'm taking a guess at that). ATMOF, I can't remember the last time there was even water dripping around the T-Tops.

I have to add another thing again, and again...

I love those Fiero's pictured above!

I often wondered how the GT would look with the front fascia/nose of the 2M4, which had a more wedged looking nose rather than rounded on the GT!

And a Full Targa Top with some 17" wheels of the same BBS design.

I did see one time, a GT Fastback without the rear spoiler and some of the owners personal MODS and this car had Ferrari written all over it from a distance. I had to get close enough to tell that it was a Fiero! Love the Black Louvers on the rear enging cover/bonnet

Yes, I have heard about these as well, and it sounds like a VERY cool swap (especially if they are built with ported heads/bigger cams/compression bump/higher winding/etc.), but the LSxes/LTxes would probably fit better since they are more compact, with MUCH smaller OHV heads (and the resultant lower center of gravity, to a point).

for those that have T top blow out while on highway, cause they dint lock it tight enought, I own few camaro have having T top , never blow out at high way, it do leak tbh, but I just cheapfix using black rtv on the leak spot hehe, those with T top is having weak body frame, can be easy twist, many camaro owner know about this.
