Due to your type of short trip driving conditions, I think a "CI-4/SL" rated, synthetic diesel oil like Delvac 1 or the Amsoil 10w-40 might hold up better than the 10w30 you have been using in your Isuzu. Isuzu allows the use of 15w40 grades in temps > 10F, so I see no issue with running either of these formulations year round.
Both these oils work extremely well in the VW TDI diesel engines with 10,000 mile change intervals. This is an EGR equipped engine with only a 4.5 qt sump, so it's a very demanding application.
You should be able to find Delvac 1 at one of the local truckstops in one gallon jugs for about $20.00-$22.00.
