Sorry guys but I had to bring this up.

I just added the synthetic version to my 1994 Crown Vic (est. 175k miles) that was burning lots of oil between OCI's. Ez-lube uses castrol GTX (I've played around with 5w-20, 5W-30, 10W-30, & 10W-40, but usually stick with the last two) and thank god for their free top off service, because I have become a frequent visitor. So how much oil do I burn between OCI's? I would say the worst so far has been 3 quarts (yes the pan holds 5).

Over the years I have used Sea Foam, MMO and most recently ARX. ARX did solve my oil leak but not my oil burning issue.

So, after trying that silver can of restore (did nothing) and this mysterious loss of oil was getting stronger (car does not smoke at all) I decided to try the Synthetic version of Lucas Oil Stabilizer and so far, it's been a winner!

[flame suit on]

How is this product really working? Is the Synthetic version finally the one that works?

Is this a one time product or do I have to keep using this stuff with every oil change (I hope not)?

Save the money for a top end rebuild on the 4.6 or a newer Vickky :) Seriously, have you tried STP or Motor Medic or other less costly long chain paraffins?

I think you need to replace your valve seals, I believe the 1994 Crown-Vic had problems with valve seals.

Yes the '94 did have this problem but I have never once seen any puff of smoke upon start up or during it's operation.

Valve seals is a common problem on this year & engine. Nothing going to fix it right but replacing the valve seals and with that high mileage you might want to think about a whole rebuild if the car is in excellent shape and you want to keep it.

(Assuming you checked your PCV/Breather system and it's good)

If you don't want to do the above then just run a thick oil like a 20w50 with a reasonable good flow filter (nothing too restrictive) in the summer and in the cooler temps you can go down to a 5w30 for better flow if it gets too cool.

Save your money, Lucas oil stabilizer is a waste of $$$ IMO and can do more harm than good in some cases if it causes foaming or aeration.

He already added it to his oil.
