Synthetic in summer or winter?

My oil stash is as follows: 3 cases of RedLine 5w30, 2 cases of RedLine 5w-20, 4 cases of Motorcraft 5w-20 syn blend. I have a 2006 Civic EX with a 110 mile daily commute 95% highway, at speeds of 70-75mph. My OLM had me do the first change at 8500 miles. Given my driving conditions which of my oils should I use for which season? I rarely, if ever, experience "stop and go" driving conditions. Additionally, I'll probably be using NAPA filters. Would you recommend the "Nascar" or the "Gold" to meet my needs? I'm looking to get 200,000 miles out of this motor. Thanks.

If your driving conditions stay like that, you can probably get 500,000. It probably makes little difference which oil you use at what time, but perhaps using the Redline in winter would be wisest. If it were me, I'd see about exchanging those 3 cases of Red Line 5w30 for more 5W-20, unless there is a different car you're servicing with it.

Use the weight your car recommends: 5W20.

Redline is probably serious overkill in your situation, but hey, at least you *know* you're completely safe I guess. If you already have the stuff and you don't have another use for it, I'd say use the Redline. However, that said, your car would be perfectly fine with any decent synthetic you can find at any auto parts store. Heck, that Motorcraft will easily do the distance under your conditions (and certainly would have excellent used oil analysis to show for it, too!). The truth is, any DINO (yes, even Super Tech) would probably do perfectly fine under those ultra-easy conditions.

Filter: Get the NAPA Gold. Far superior to the NASCAR from what I understand.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I plan to use the 5w30 in the Honda, probably in the summer, and most likely after the car has some serious miles on it. I've had the 5w30 for awhile and it carries the old RedLine packaging, so I seriously doubt any retailer would be willing to swap-but it was a good thought!

The 5W30 won't hurt you. Your commute sounds like mine. I totaled my last car at 191k miles. The engine was still in great shape.

The Red Line 5w30 is really too thick for this application, I'd stick with the 5w-20 in this case. I'd probably run the Red Line in the winter and the 5w-20 synblend in the warmer months.
