Synthetic for AutoRx rinse phase?

Hi All,

I have a gallon jug of Delo 5w40 Group III synthetic that I need to use up and want to use it for the rinse phase on my AutoRx. Is there any problem with this? If there is would it help if I mixed 2qts. of conventional 15w40 with 2qts. Delo 5w40 to make it more of a blend? I just don't want to waste the oil as I am moving to Schaeffer's after the AutoRx phases. I appreciate the input. Thank you.

Group III oils are fine for Auto-Rx applications. Check out the website for more info

Well, I read that info but it seemed conflicting when they stated synthetic blends were not good for the rinse phase either and I presumed Group III would be even more of a problem since synthetic blends were restricted. I hope it is fine to use the Delo 5w40 as it would be nice to find a use for it.

Notes On Choosing An Engine Oil For Use With Auto-Rx®

Auto-Rx® works with generally the least expensive motor oil available.
Conventional engine oils include Valvoline Conventional, SuperTech (available at Wal-Mart), and Coastal (available at AutoZone).

Group III Oil,s which include Pennzoil Platinum, Castrol Syntec Blend Oil, and Valvoline Synpower work well also

Use of high-mileage engine oils should be avoided during the Auto-Rx application. However, high-mileage engine oils can be used while following an Auto-Rx® maintenance plan.

If your engine has a supercharger, turbocharger or the manufacturer recommends that you only use synthetic motor oil please choose a Group III motor oil to avoid competing chemistry

Always choose the engine oil weight (viscosity) that your engine’s manufacturer recommends.

Synthetic blends that contain Group IV/V are the issue because Group IV/V oils greatly hinder auto-rx and extend the time required for a thorough cleaning. Group III syn is ok.
