Mmmmm....another Euro oil for my stash, the good ol' stalwart Syntec 5w40. Been around forever and has proven well.

Always use it for my 3L A4. Doesnt burn as much as the RP.

What would be the advantage of using thisoil over GC?

Reason I ask is GC, from what I've seen, has higher Ca, and higher TBN....seems to be a stronger oil, without the risk of shearing as much.

Don't quite understand why Castrol makes this oil, when they have GC.....

Some cars are spec'd for xw40 and "cannot" use xw30. (per the manual).

Syntec 5w40 is slightly thicker at operating temp, while both have the same HTHS.

This oil has been the most commonly used oil over the years in VW and Audi cars in the US (and maybe North America) as it's what most dealers use.
