Synpower vs Durablend.

I`ve decided to go with either of these on my next oci. I got bored the other night and went on several Z forums and these two oils seem to have alot of fans,especially the Durablend. I also searched the used oil analysis section here and was pleased with the results.

I want to hear from some users of either of these and hear how well you liked them. Wonder why so many people were more favorable with the Durablend over Synpower? Maybe it`s because the Z32 is an 80s-90s era car that favors the "older/thicker" oils? I don`t know. I do know they seem to respond better to slightly thicker oils. So seeing as the oem recommendation for my car says "10W30 and 10W40 are preferred",would the Durablend 10W40 be the best choice out of the batch (choices are Dura 10W30 or 10W40,or Synpower 10W30 or 5W40)?

By looking at the sticker,would 10W30 give a slight edge to fuel economy,while 10W40 give a slight edge to protection?

Not sure why you want to move away from the Mobil 1 10W40HM, but that would be my preference above the choices you have listed...have you had an issue with it?

Both are good oils. I've used both extensively in different applications. I'm not sure which might be best in your specific application, it sounds sort of unique.

That oil chart recommendation based on mineral oils is over 15 years old.
Any OTC 5w30 synthetic will provide more "protection", both in terms of cold starts and high temp' viscosity stability.
If your concerned about the lower ZDDP levels of todays 30wt oils then consider the heavy SL GC 0w30 or just go with Mobil 1 0W-40. Both these oil's are likely heavier than necessary but a mojot improvement on what you're running now.

You can always go to the Mobil 1, Pennzoil, Valvoline or any other major oil company and find the reccomended oil weight and type to use in your vehicle.

IMO...if you go to the Valvoline website, they may reccomend that you use SynPower, DuraBlend or Max Life Full Synthetic High mileage.

Or you could, if you wish, make up a blend of your own to run. A slightly thicker oil with the benefit of the Add Pack of Diesel conventional and synthetic may suit your needs like a glove.
