Most of that gain is probably from the recent switchover from "winter gas" to the summer blend, which always results in higher MPG anyways.

Im not sure that we get winter blend here and the AC has been blasting in my car for those fill ups, unlike the previous fill ups. I would expect about an 8% gain going down two oil grades. Note that I am not recommending this to the OP, I just thought that I would share my experience.

I've got an 06 Boxster that spends some time at the track. I'm currently using Lubro Moly #2040 partial synthetic 5W-40. I have no issues with it.

I moved away from M1 when I started hearing a lot of valve train noises when hot. Switch to Castrol Edge, then Lubro Moly. I would highly recommend either LM or Edge in 5W-40.

BTW, the Ultra tech sheet showed some very low viscosity numbers at 100 deg (13.5?). C--well lower than M1, or LM.

Nothing wrong with wanting to run an approved lubricant in an engine that is stupidly expensive to replace. I'm in the same boat, I'll experiment on the wife's car and the Expedition, but the M5 gets M1 0w40. It is their best oil and arguably the best automotive lube on the market with the longest list of certs and approvals of any oil available. Definitely not a bad choice for your Porsche
