I've decided that there may not be enough advantage to using synthetics in my vehicles any more. The 2005 Grand Caravan (purchased new) has 180k in the odometer. It has seen synthetic since about 36k. This vehicle has been relegated to use as a second vehicle and with the Stow N Go seating down, it serves as my pickup truck.
The kid's car, a 1998 Malibu with 192k, is a beater and will be driven back and forth to school. It currently has Trop Artic in it.
The 2009 Town and Country purchased used has a consumption issue (see thread here https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/3390194/Re:_Never_change_oil?#Post3390194). At one quart every one thousand miles, synthetic is a waste.
I plan on using the stash of Pennzoil Ultra (old formula) on my next oil change in the T&C. If it does not affect the consumption, I will use up the case of Napa Synthetic that I purchased on sale in all of my vehicles.
After that, all of my vehicles will use convention oil. The PQIA test show Pennzoil Conventional and Mobil Super 5000 with high TBN's and low Noack. The two older vehicles won't notice much difference. With the T&C using a quart every 1k miles, it will be getting five or six new quarts of oil in 5 or 6 k miles. The other option for this vehicle is a 10w30 diesel oil with good TBN and low Noack. Will have to do some searching to come up with some diesel oil choices that fit the bill.
