I've decided that there may not be enough advantage to using synthetics in my vehicles any more. The 2005 Grand Caravan (purchased new) has 180k in the odometer. It has seen synthetic since about 36k. This vehicle has been relegated to use as a second vehicle and with the Stow N Go seating down, it serves as my pickup truck.

The kid's car, a 1998 Malibu with 192k, is a beater and will be driven back and forth to school. It currently has Trop Artic in it.

The 2009 Town and Country purchased used has a consumption issue (see thread here https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/3390194/Re:_Never_change_oil?#Post3390194). At one quart every one thousand miles, synthetic is a waste.

I plan on using the stash of Pennzoil Ultra (old formula) on my next oil change in the T&C. If it does not affect the consumption, I will use up the case of Napa Synthetic that I purchased on sale in all of my vehicles.

After that, all of my vehicles will use convention oil. The PQIA test show Pennzoil Conventional and Mobil Super 5000 with high TBN's and low Noack. The two older vehicles won't notice much difference. With the T&C using a quart every 1k miles, it will be getting five or six new quarts of oil in 5 or 6 k miles. The other option for this vehicle is a 10w30 diesel oil with good TBN and low Noack. Will have to do some searching to come up with some diesel oil choices that fit the bill.

Congrats! Our new van started with Valvoline conventional and will see nothing but dino.

Good plan friend. I have quite the stock of conventional and the Accord doesn't care.

Yeah If your car aren't worth a s*** :-) and you don't have time to look for SYN at Dino sale prices sounds like nothing to loose.

Conventional oils are so good now a days. Mostly do my own "blends" on the vechicles I service. (Using a mix from the same manufacturer.) Sounds good to me.

Synthetic or conventional makes no different in my case, the OCI is 7-10k/6mo with dino for LS400, I double up the OCI to 15-20k/12mo with synthetic.

Now, if you do the same OCI with both conventional and synthetic then it doesn't make sense at all.

Yup...Pennzoil Conventional or Mobil Super 5000 (in that order) 10w30 every 5K miles.

Im thinking i will do Pennzoil Conventional or Mobil Super 5000 for 8k to 10k since i will be adding a quart every thousand miles.

I like your choices of Pennzoil Conventional and Mobil Super.

Those are both strong motor oils.

Personally, I like to let price/oil change deals drive my choice of conventional oils more than brand allegiance.

Havoline and Warren (Peak, Super Tech, etc., etc.) are very good and might keep your cost per change low.

I have a nomination for the most worthless dribble that I have read this year.

I just changed the oil the GC this weekend and instead of my typical PSB 5w30 I opted to try some MaxLife 5w30 for the first time. I really dont think it will help with my oil loss but its worth a try. Again, I only lose 1/2 qt in 1000 miles so its nothing to lose sleep over.

Since your using 1qt every 1000, I would switch to Pennzoil Conventional and call it a day as well.

I just changed oil today. I used Pennzoil Ultra 10w30. I had it in my stash. Wanted to see if a low Noack oil would make any difference. Not holding any high hopes. I have one more jug of Mobil synthetic, then will switch to Pennzoil conventional.
