My 1996 Honda Accord V6 is due for an oil change (just shy of 110,000 miles on the car...it sees 95% highway cruising at lower speeds due to the 55mph speed limits up here). I'm currently running Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5W30 in it and although it runs fine, the last couple of changes there's some noticeable "weeping" from the rear seal. It's not a full-blown leak at this point. I've been using Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 and lately Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5W30 but am considering going to Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w30. I used the 10W30 version of the Mobil 1 High Mileage in my PT Cruiser for about 35,000 miles (sold it with 106,000 miles) and NEVER had a consumption issue. The Honda uses NO oil between changes at this point (I'm at 5,500 miles on this OCI...intend to get an analysis done this time). I like the stoutness of the Mobil 1 High Mileage oils, especially for an older engine and am wondering if it might buy me some time with the seal...either that or just stick with the Quaker State Ultimate Durability for awhile longer. Any thoughts?
