Swapping out a rear swaybar how difficult?

Hi everyone , I would like to swap out the factory rear swaybar for the TRD one , but i'm wondering if its something i can do by myself, will i need any special lifts or anything like that? Alli have is a huge floor jack and some Ramps tht go up about 8-10 inches high.

Can this job be done at home?

Vehicle: 2008 Toyota Tundra, 5.7 litre , crewmax limited.

I have no experience on a Tundra, but it should be fairly straight forward.

If you have both wheels at the same height, there should be no force built up in the torsion spring. Should be an easy enough job if you have the wrenches.

Be glad you don't have my car... you have to drop the entire rear cradle to swap a sway bar!

Please pardon the newbie question, but what does a rear sway bar bolt up to on a solid axle rear suspension? My only experience with sway bars is on IRS vehicles where it bolts to the control arms, and I'm having trouble picturing how it works in this application.

(I'm assuming the Tundra does in fact have a solid axle...)

Lower control arms on 4-link and modified 4-link setups.

It shouldn't be too difficult. The main concern is probably working around the gas tank. I was looking into a Roush kit for my truck and installing the rear sway bar involved loosening the gas tank straps or something like that.

On my car it would go under the rear axle with the arms connected to the frame. But, mine does not have one.

Ah, thanks. I just had to go and look up a bunch of suspension diagrams and now it makes more sense. My only exposure to solid rear axles so far has been on our Suburban, which is a pretty simple system and IIRC doesn't have any control arms.

If you spray all the nuts and bolts down with PB Blaster 15 minutes before you start it is a super easy job.

Thanks a lot guys, according to Toyota's TRD website , it should abe a easy Job.

Yes i have a lot of Handtools and some power tools.

John , what is PB Blaster? Is it some kind of Brake parts cleaner?
I only have 5,567 miles on the Truck so under it still looks new as if it just came from the factory.

one more question for everybody, Should i use Loctite when i assemble the new kit onto the vehicle?

PB Blaster is a penetrating oil. A very good one. If you have a new truck you most likely will not need it though.

Kroil, Liquid Wrench, ATF:acetone are other penetrating oils if you don't have some laying around.
