This reminds me of myself at ,my last workplace (USGov) trying to impress the GSA honcho of the pressing need to cut off a ridiculous steel pipe they had left sticking up in a dangerous place along a truck exit. It was unlit and just close enough to the road lane that in bad weather people almost hit it and in fact more than a few already had.
Same sort of jibberish . QUE THE SWALLOWSðŸ¥ðŸ¥ðŸ¥ðŸ¥. GSA, Well there's lights out there. ME, well they still tell me stories about almost hitting the [censored] thing. GSA, well it is lit up enough by street lights. Me, well let see already a few have hit it , one of our guys who works here almost totaled his wife's car hitting it. I've almost hit it a couple of times myself and I go by it multiple times a night and done it for the. 3 years it's been there. When it's dark it gets lost in the blowing snow and light clutter of the background out there. So can't you get a light on that thing some way it's only 30' from the nearest light pole? GSA, nope it's all paved. Me, well just notch it out and repave tiny slit with quick patch. Me, battery powered light maybe with a solar pad like the Coast Guard uses GSA, nope can't do that too expensive. Me, you've torn this whole port up more times than I can count redoing this place and you can't just take a grinder and slit a tiny line deep enough to bury a wire? GSA, nope. Me, just say the word and by tomorrow morning your slit will be there or just as simple I can just cut the useless thing off flush , it serves no purpose besides being a hazard. GSA, nope nobody's going to take it out .
I just shook my head and left warning him that somebody was going to really get hurt on that thing eventually. Bear in mind this was the guy that ran the place not one of the flunkies that actually did things .🙄. Just like some stupid parody of that who's on first parody Abbot & Costello did🙈. Anyways it finally got taken out by some poor slob who didn't just brush it as usual but hooked it with a flat bed semi. It ripped the rear wheel truck part way off the trailer and they had to 🤗cut the post off to get it out and drag the trailer away. Well🥴 it got cut off I guess. My big regret was not being there to watch the 💩show.
After doing this sort of thing with management sorts on many occasions over the years that swallow line starts to make sense🙄. No wonder we can't figure out a way to build a " Border Wall , Fence, Barrier or whatever you want to call it"
