Supertech ST3614 C&P 5k Restore and Protect 5w-30

So I decided to buy a Oil Filter cutter. Here is my ST3614 with 5k miles on it using Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w-30. This was the first run of the R&P. 5k run. 2000 Toyota Camry V6 with 214k miles. Car runs great! I am very happy with the budget filter. Media looked good and felt solid. Felt end caps were glued on solid. Noticed some stuff in the can so I wonder if the R&P is cleaning. I am running at least 20k miles on it so I will update with more filters.

Oh. What does C&P mean? I notice everyone says that when they cut a filter open.

Felt end caps were glued on solid.

That is one very good thing about those felt end caps the glue really sticks to them.

Filter media look great. Ya can see that it sealed on both ends by the seal compressions.

Oh great! I was actually curious about that. As you can see I dented the can with my filter pliers when removing. So because of that the bypass valve and metal piece came loose. It was crimped by the can so when I removed the element it came loose. Wasn't worried as I saw what happened.

I got same one today with a Walmart order. The bad news is the adbv doesn’t cover the holes well. It’s shifted over so a gap is present. I saw this on a Fram PH3614 and posted pictures. Another said they saw it on theirs too. For a few cents more they sell the PH3614 that is the same thing with a silicone adbv. But there is a good chance it will be a pro-drainback valve not anti.

You think? WAL-MART says 10k but im not sure. Saw some stuff in the pleats. Im curious. My sons car is a St9688 that I've considered 2 5k runs

I ran Fram PH3614 exclusively on my 89 4x4 Toyota Pickup 22R 4cyl. Before the internet
Castrol GTX 10-40 I think. Always ran great! Wish I still had the truck! Filters are different now but the Orange can was it back then!

I do. I believe that probably 80%-90% of filters can go two intervals, if the intervals are 5,000-6,000 miles, and the engine is reasonably healthy. I have done this since 2006 when I bought a new Honda Odyssey, which they recommend a 2X filter run.

The challenge is overcoming old habits, like the standard "you have to change your oil every 3000 miles" that was drilled into the consumers head. I have 20 years of proof on multiple vehicles a 2X filter change is fine (2 x 5000 =10,000).
