SuperTech ST3593A questions

I was wondering what other supertech filters are interchangable with the ST3593A, perferably a higher capacity. The Supertech catalog always called for the ST3593A on my 87 Mazda, now in the new catalog it calls for a smaller filter for some reason?

I've always read that people have used the 3950.

Look at a 7317, think it was bigger when I was looking. BUT, just because the can is physically bigger is no guarantee that there is more square inches of filter media.

A ST7317 is much smaller than a ST3593A.

The ST7317 is the oil filter that supertech now calls for in their 2007 oil filter catalog for my 87 Mazda, but previously they called for ST3593A, the ST7317 can is quite a bit smaller than the ST3593A and very similar in size to the WIX and Napa oil filters that are called for my vehicle. I wonder if the ST3950, ST3950, and ST7317 all have the same thread size?

Using the Wix website to compare sizes it would seem that the ST3593A is larger than a ST3950.

The ST3950 has a different gasket size than the other two. The thread size is the same but other specifications are different.
