Stopped by Chevrolet dealership today to try to buy factory supercharger oil for a 2001 Pontiac GTP. They didn't have any and the parts guy didn't know when he would have more. My question is what is it? He didn't know of course. It is in a Eaton supercharger. Has to lubricate gears, bushings and bearings I think. Max. input shaft rpm will be around 14,000. It has to just be some medium weight synthetic oil I would think. I can't see why something like the heavier weight synthetic engine oils won't work (Mobil multivis or a straight weight 30-40 synthetic racing oil). I can provide the GM part # when my wife gets home if it will be helpful. Thanks for any info. Clay

Thanks for the information, I'll just check at other dealers. As long as I know it is something special I don't have a problem trying to find the right stuff. Great site by the way. Clay

I seem to recall reading somewhere on the 'net that GM supercharger oil used to be made from sperm whale oil. Any truth to that?

Eaton supplies superchargers to many manufacturers.
You can use the Eaton spec'd fluid from other dealers like Ford.....
