OEM Oil Spec: Same Engine, Different Market

The biggest problem with this debate is that both sides are correct.

If you are on the thin side your stance is. Engineers have shown the thin oil is thick enough in expected operating conditions and many people have gotten load of miles out of the recommended grade. Thats a valid point.

The thick oil side is hey I can't be 100% sure my engine is going to run in the conditions under which the thin oil is going to be thick enough so I am going to run a grade thicker for the safety margin. I know it will reduce fuel economy, but I plan to keep my car a long time and engines aren't cheap. Also a valid point.

So both sides have a point both sides have a valid argument. With that said my stance is "thick oil make monke brain more happier. Monke run thick oil so brain make happy juice."
